In the past 4 years we have hosted a Grasshoppers Game for our patients, their families, and friends. We continued that this year on August 7, 2009. That evening we hosted a game to hang out and have a good time with all of you that were able to come. It gives us a chance to catch up with our patients outside of the office. We have a great time every year and we hope to see you all there for next year’s game!!

Art In Our Family
Dr. Mitchell is a member of the United Arts Council and a strong supporter of the arts in schools and the community. For the last five years, she and her team have hosted student art shows. We love supporting the local arts around Greensboro and Kernersville. We have some wonderfully talented artists as part of the Mitchell & Bartlett family and love to showcase that when we can. In addition to the art shows that we host for the local schools art classes, we have one special month set aside for our patients only. It is called “Art in the Family". So, feel free to stop by and take a look around our halls at the art we have displayed. If you have some art that we could hang with your name on it, let us know and we would be honored.
Monthly Art Events For Our Office
April 9: Art Festival for Special Needs Kids- Donating Pens/Pencils
April 11: Art Show Reception for "A Greater Vision For Autism" 2-5 PM in our Greensboro Office (100% of the proceeds stay in Guilford County) You can also visit www.asncgc.org for more information.
May: Cosmic Cow Society will have an exhibit up in the Greensboro office
June: Art in The Family Month-if you or your family members have art you would like to display please bring to the office by the end of May
July: Featured artist of the month will be Kathy Brushnighan

Monthly Contests
Each month our Greensboro and Kernersville offices each have games for the different holidays. This past month of March we had a March Madness game where our patients guessed the final four teams and the final score of the championship game. Make sure you are signed up for our office e-mail to get reminders about everything going on with us! Here is a list of the games we have coming up in the next few months:

Teacher of the Month
Patients were asked to nominate their teacher(s) for Supporting our Schools and Helping Our Teachers Program during the months of October through May. Patients wrote a short essay to describe why their teacher deserved to be Teacher of the Month. Deserving and dedicated teachers were chosen and received a gift certificate to Staples for school supplies; a letter of commendation from Dr. Mitchell and her team and a Certificate of Appreciation. Eight teachers were chosen from 45 nominations and 37 different schools. We will be starting the TOTM again this school year, so make sure to fill out a ballot when you are in for an appointment. Then, look for the postings of our winners each month!

Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus are a new part of the family!
Melissa, a clinician from our Kernersville office, took a road trip this past year to visit Miley on the Hannah Montana Movie set! While Melissa was there visiting with Miley and Billy Ray, Miley was kind enough to sign one of our t-shirts and pose for a picture. You can find the signed shirt on display in our office.

*The Tooth Fairy Visits Local Schools!*
Peggy works as the administrative supervisor in our Greensboro office and is our very own tooth fairy. She travels to schools and assists Dr. Bartlett and Dr. Mitchell in teaching children how to keep your teeth healthy and why it is so important. Obviously our reasoning is so the tooth fairy will take your healthy teeth from under your pillow and leave a present. She is flying around to last few schools before the end of the academic year now so, look for her again in Kindergarten-Second grades in 10-11 school year.

Supporting Our Troops & Giving Thanks!
During the month of November there are many things to celebrate, including Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving. We want to give thanks to our troops this month and send care packages to our men and women overseas. We would like to collect any items they can use along with some thank you cards that you can bring in from home or make them while you are sitting in our waiting room. We have a box set up in front for anyone who would like to make a card to be sent. We know they will appreciate anything that we can do! A few of the items that have been requested are:
Baby powder
Shampoo/Conditioner
Liquid Laundry Detergent
Pre-Packaged, Non-Perishable Foods (no chocolates)
Candy
Postcards & Stamps
Ect.

Update:
This Holiday Season Was Truely A Time To Give Thanks!
In the months of November and December we wanted to make sure we thanked some reallly important people around Veterans Day, our service men and women. We collected and shipped 9 boxes and countless cards to Afganistan and Iraq just in time for Christmas! Thank you to all of our patients that made cards and a special thanks to our patient Monica Ludwinski and the classes at Kernodle for all that you contributed. It was a huge success and we hope to make that a yearly tradition.
