Kelly Blair Mitchell, DDS, MS

Dr. Kelly Mitchell is a native of Boca Raton, FL and a resident of North Carolina since 1993. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude from Wellesley College before coming to North Carolina for her dental and orthodontic training. Dr. Mitchell finished her dental degree in 1997, graduating first in her class at UNC-Chapel Hill with a 4.0 grade point average and earning perfect scores on all parts of the National Dental Board Exam. She was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society and won numerous awards including the Ethics in Dentistry Award. Dr. Mitchell was also a two-time recipient of the Hinman Scholarship, an honor given by the Hinman regional dental conference held annually in Atlanta.

As an Andrew McArthur Brooks Fellow in the orthodontic residency at UNC, Dr. Mitchell researched functional aspects of surgical-orthodontic treatment and was an invited speaker at universities in Finland and Sweden. She also worked extensively on the third edition of Contemporary Orthodontics, one of the most widely used textbooks in the field, authored by the long-time chairman of the Orthodontic Department at UNC, Dr. William Proffit.

Since finishing her orthodontic training in 2000, Dr. Mitchell has practiced primarily in North Carolina. She also had the opportunity to spend six months in the Seattle, WA area where she worked with the editor of the American Journal of Orthodontics. 

Dr. Mitchell resides in Greensboro with her husband, Kemp Gilbert, a former Grimsley High School quarterback and current Greensboro firefighter. They welcomed their first child, Mitch Warren Gilbert, in September 2007 and stay busy keeping up with the him and big brothers, Seth and Blake.

Dr. Bartlett completed his graduate orthodontic residency at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus, OH where he trained under two prominent former faculty from UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Kate Vig and Dr. Henry Fields. While at Ohio State, Dr. Bartlett received a Delta Dental Research Grant to fund his master's research investigating methods of minimizing pain and anxiety associated with orthodontic treatment. This research culminated in a publication in the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, as well as a Resident Scholar Award, which entitled him to present his findings at the annual session for the International Association for Dental Research.

After finishing his graduate orthodontic training in 2004, Dr. Bartlett began his military service at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. As Chief of Orthodontics at Womack Army Medical Center, he provided comprehensive orthodontic care for Active Duty soldiers and served as orthodontic faculty to the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency programs. While teaching residents, he gained experience using the most innovative techniques in surgical orthodontics and interdisciplinary treatment.

Dr. Bartlett resides in Greensboro with his wife, Rita, a child psychologist who works in the area of developmental disabilities. They are proud parents of two young boys, Sam and Ben. The joys of parenthood have kept Dr. Bartlett and Rita happily busy, but in their spare time they enjoy cycling, family hikes, playing golf and tennis, and traveling.
